“创造的神秘,有如夜间的黑暗——是伟大的。而知识的幻影,却不过如晨间之雾。”在泰戈尔的《飞鸟集》中,有如此这句。它所呼唤的,乃是一种对真正生命力的褒扬,而这在灵魂深处的回响,正如艺术家邵飞所经历的,那在“星星画会”时代就开始的激荡。

一种骨子里的不拘一格。中国画之于邵飞,正如《山海经》那可被无限挖掘的万象包罗,它绝不是止于“书画同源”,而是可被无限延展的万花筒。它显化为一种可被无尽诞延的历史,正如《山海经·海外南经》中所记:“神灵所生,其物异形,或夭或寿,唯圣人能通其道。”

这万花筒中,既有当代语境中的实验性材料,又有承接古法拓印之新继,并融合于民间美学的杂取。其所显现的,正是艺术家勇而真的率性之心,并艺术上专而胆的不拘泥,也是彩墨之于当下时代可能的一席之地。“拓”以手与石之印,通上古与原始之神秘,“拓”以变化,通当下与未来之路径。

而真正的生命胜过了一切知识的幻影,正如那破壳而出的新生雏鸟。这种生命力同样作用于异想文化的历史长河中,并于艺术家对爱与灵魂自由的表达。它形成了人类精神深处最基底的渴求,在人类学的民俗志与艺术家邵飞的个体之间,在作为整体的中国画与彩墨之间,交相激扬。


In Rabindranath Tagore’s renowned work Stray Birds, there is a verse that reads: “The mystery of creation is like the darkness of night—it is great. Delusions of knowledge are like the fog of the morning.” This verse calls for a celebration of the true vitality in life, resounding deep within our souls. Just as artist Shao Fei has experienced, it has taken root since the vibrant era of the Stars Group.

A deep-rooted spirit of unconventionality prevails. In the realm of Chinese painting, for Shao Fei, it is akin to the boundless exploration found in the Classic of Mountains and Seas, encompassing a myriad of infinite possibilities to be unearthed. It transcends the mere concept of “the common origin of calligraphy and painting” and transforms into an infinitely expandable kaleidoscope. It materializes as an unbounded history, as noted in the Classic of Mountains and Seas: South Overseas Journey, which states, “All things are created by divine spirits, resulting in diverse forms and various lifespans. The understanding and mastery of these truths can only be achieved by the wise and virtuous.”

Within this kaleidoscope, we find both experimental materials rooted in the contemporary context and new inheritances that embrace traditional imprinting techniques, blending harmoniously with elements derived from folk aesthetics. It reveals the artist’s fearless and genuine pursuit of unbridled and dedicated creativity and the rightful place where colored ink has found itself in the present era. By engaging in the art of imprinting, using the hand and stone seals, a connection is established with the mysteries of antiquity and primordial origins. Through adaptation and transformation, it paves the way for the present and the future.

However, true life surpasses the ephemeral mirage of knowledge, much like a newly hatched chick emerging from its shell. Such a life force equally permeates the history of alternative culture and resonates with the artist's expression of love and the liberation of the soul. It embodies the profound longing deeply embedded within the spirit of humanity, bridging the study of folklore ethnography and the individual artist. It is also part of a vibrant interplay between the holistic realm of Chinese painting and colors, sparking inspiration for each other.
