Tong Gallery+Projects is delighted to present Lan Zhaoxing’s fourth solo exhibition,Breath Crystals, opening on November 2, 2024. This exhibition centers on sculptural installations, showcasing the results of Lan’s deep exploration between sculpture and painting over these years. The works on view combine shallow relief techniques with painting, endowing each piece with unique spatial depth and texture. Lan employs wood relief, layered with acrylic paint and meticulously polished, creating a soft and nuanced play of light and shadow. In these sculptural installations, Lan not only reveals a visual language bridging nature and form but also conveys her philosophical reflections on the human condition. The works achieve a poetic balance between solid structure and rhythmic color, with layers building a profound dialogue between color and texture. This surface treatment expands the spatial dimension of painting, enriching her examination of modernist flatness and three-dimensional expression, imbuing each work with tension and contemplative depth in metaphysical and spiritual realms.
