吴大羽是杰出的现代主义艺术大师,中国抽象绘画的奠基人,油画家、美术教育家、诗人,1903年12月5日出生于江苏宜兴,1988年1月1日于上海去世。

值吴大羽先生诞辰120周年之际,全国多家公立、民间艺术机构纷纷举办吴大羽纪念活动,缅怀这位对中国艺术现代化做出了卓越贡献的艺术先师。“吴大羽的艺术世界”特展得以在北京SKP RENDEZ-VOUS GALLERY展出,这是吴大羽艺术爱好者的幸事。

吴大羽先生著述丰厚,一生创作了油彩、水彩、蜡彩、水墨、漫画、书法等2000余幅艺术作品,还有90多万字的手稿,留下了宝贵的文化遗产。作为艺术教育家,他培养的学生有吴冠中、赵无极、朱德群、丁天缺、庄华岳等。此次展出了近年来出版的吴大羽画集、文集、书信集10多种,以及基于吴大羽原作制作的版画20多种,这些图书、版画和文献相得益彰,缤纷多彩,观众可以领略到一代艺术大师革故鼎新的美学风格和特立独行的高贵品格。


As an eminent modernist maestro, the founder of Chinese abstract painting, oil painter, art educator and poet, Wu Dayu was born on 5 December 1903 in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, and passed away on 1 January 1988 in Shanghai.

On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Mr Wu Dayu's birth, many public and private art institutions across China have organised commemorative activities in honour this art pioneer who has made remarkable contributions to the modernisation of Chinese art. The special exhibition " The Artistic World of Wu Dayu" displayed in Beijing SKP RENDEZ-VOUS GALLERY is a great blessing for lovers of Wu Dayu's art.

Being a prolific artist, Mr. Wu Dayu created more than 2,000 works of art featuring oil paint, water colour, wax colour, Chinese ink, caricature and calligraphy, as well as more than 900,000 words of manuscripts during his lifetime, leaving behind an invaluable cultural legacy. As an art educator, he trained students such as Wu Guanzhong, Zao Wou-ki, Chu Teh-chun, Ding Tianque and Zhuang Huayue. On display are more than 10 collections of Wu Dayu's paintings, writings and letters published in recent years, as well as over 20 types of prints based on Wu Dayu's original works. These books, prints and documents complement each other with vivid details, allowing viewers to appreciate the ground-breaking aesthetics, his particular but noble character of this renowned master.
