東京画廊创立于1950年，作为日本最早的当代艺术画廊，東京画廊不但第一时间将欧美的当代艺术引进日本，同时也将日本的战后艺术、韩国、中国的当代艺术等推广向了全世界。
2002年，東京画廊在北京798艺术区成立了新空间北京东京艺术工程(Beijing Tokyo Art Project)。2006年，画廊正式更名为東京画廊+BTAP，以东京和北京两地为据点，介绍各国的优秀艺术家及作品，旨在向全世界发布日中韩等亚洲当代艺术资讯。时至今日，東京画廊+BTAP仍然坚持着一以贯之的先驱性，挖掘具有潜力的艺术家并协助他们进行艺术活动。
Tokyo Gallery is the first contemporary art gallery in Tokyo founded in 1950. As Japan’s first contemporary art gallery, Tokyo Gallery has introduced the latest trends in Western art to Japanese audiences over the decades. It has also spearheaded in presenting post-war Japanese art and contemporary Korean and Chinese art to the world.
In 2002, the gallery opened a new space Beijing Tokyo Art Projects(BTAP) in Beijing 798 Art District. In 2006, it changed its name to Tokyo Gallery + BTAP. Since then, the gallery has continued to showcase artists from different periods and regions to local and overseas audiences. Inheriting the pioneer spirit and currently operating as Tokyo Gallery + BTAP, the gallery continues its mission on discovering and promoting both established and rising artists.
