前言 Foreword:

曾浩的作品是一部附着于时间的生活艺术史。多年来,他习惯于绘画作为日常实践中最重要的部分之一,绘画对象也不同程度呈现了他对于生活半径内所能触及的现实体验,并以时间为基础形式进行非二元的反思。这种反思既没有好与坏的界限,也模糊了过去与未来的导向。这使曾浩的作品形成了一种中立的、直觉的逻辑。

曾浩始终关注“人”作为独立个体的处境。早年间,辗转不同城市的生活经历带给他对周遭环境一种像旁观者一样疏离观望角度。从过去的文化快照到如今对“现在”时刻及自体感受的敏感,曾浩在新作中展现了更加强烈的对于当下所见的探索。

过去的十年对于曾浩来说是隐居一般的时光。这期间,他进行了去经验化的绘画尝试。绘画对曾浩来说不再依附某种公式或程序,他也不再为了一幅完整、和谐的图像而参照以往的方式。在此次展出的2013年至2022年间的新作中,曾浩呈现了尝试用多种不同的绘画节奏更纯粹地还原对现实的把握,作品的创作周期可能长达几年,也可能是一个平日下午。

曾浩的作品与他的性格有许多相似之处。他不认为自己是个前卫的人,多数时候也保持着沉默与内敛,又始终带有着质朴的平凡性。曾浩并不认为自己的艺术目标是去追逐某种绝对“意义”或生命和时间的宏大答案,他一直所做的,只是回到亲身经历的平常时刻中印证“过去不复再现,未来尚未到来,现实只附着于现在”。


Zeng Hao wrote an art history of life with his works that are closely attached to the time. For years he has been used to treating painting as the most important part of daily activities, and the contents of his works illustrate the realistic experiences that are touchable within his life circle.

Zeng Hao always pays extra attention to the situation of "people" in their independent and individual scales. In the early years, the experience of moving between different big cities gave him an estranged view of the surroundings like a bystander. From the cultural snapshots, he painted of the past, to nowadays, the sensitivity to the present and self-consciousness, Zeng Hao's new works reveal a broader exploration of his immediate observation.

The past ten years have been nearly a seclusion for him. During this period, he made an anti-empiricism attempt at painting. His painting processes are no longer attached to a certain strategic procedure, yet he no longer refers to the previous methodology to produce any seemingly harmonious images. We can see the works from 2012 to 2022 exhibited here, Zeng Hao practices a variety of different painting cycles to restore the grasp of reality. These paintings could take as long as several years, or as immediate as a weekday afternoon.

There are many similarities between Zeng Hao's works and his personality. He would not describe himself as an open-minded person or an avant-garde artist. In most of the time he is introverted, and always keeps a simple and straightforward mindset. On the scale of being an artist, Zeng Hao does not think that his goal is to figure out the ultimate meaning of life and time. In contrast, all he has been doing is going back to the usual cycles of personal experience to prove the fact that "the past no longer exists, the future has not yet come, and the reality is only attached to the present".
