Hunsand Space(Beijing) is set to present artist Zhan Chong's solo exhibition: "Cross". This exhibition marks the artist's continued exploration of "material sensibility" since his 2022 solo show, Typhoon.
Zhan Chong's work excels inportraying the "thing-in-itself" and "third space," creating imagery and atmospheres imbued with mystery. In this exhibition, objects and their associated properties gradually retreat, while the flow of air, pressure, and aura surrounding the objects becomes the focal point.
The exhibition title, "Cross", is a dynamic description of flow. In hisworks, Zhan Chong strips away the inherent emotions and logic of the depicted objects as much as possible, guiding them with an invisible force into the undercurrents of atmosphere—unseen, yet felt. Like wind passing through fingertips, the sensation defines the wind's weight and shape. Beyond the senses, a slow, dense hum brews, bringing imperceptible tremors. Through the prompts or depictions in the paintings, viewers are drawn back into their senses—immersed in a flow of unspoken yet palpable tension.
The exhibition runs through December 8, 2024.
