策展人、批评家，毕业于中国美术学院，从事艺术批评、艺术家研究、展览策划、，现工作生活于北京、成都。
著有《当代艺术四十年》、《改造水墨》、《20世纪中国艺术编年史》、《张晓刚文集》、《21世纪中国艺术简史：2000-2018》、《新绘画：1990—2010》等。
A curator and critic, he graduated from the China Academy of Art and is engaged in art criticism, artist research, and exhibition planning. He currently works and lives in Beijing and Chengdu.
